President’s Message – West

Serving the Grand Rapids Community Bank

Welcome to spring!

I have to admit that our record-setting West Michigan winter had me doubting if we would ever see a warmer season, but sure enough, signs of spring are everywhere we look. It’s time to clean out the garage and make that list of outside projects to accomplish.

The warmer weather has ushered in renewed activity with residential construction and home purchase activity. If you are concerned that you missed the opportunity to lock in a great interest rate on a mortgage, don’t worry, the mortgage market is still very attractive.

Perspective is a funny thing. While interest rates are slightly higher than they were a year ago, from a historic perspective, it’s a great time to buy or build a house. My wife and I purchased our first home many years ago, and were excited that interest rates had dropped to 11%; we couldn’t wait to jump on that opportunity to buy a house!

If you are thinking about buying or building a home, please contact a Chemical Bank mortgage professional. We would love the opportunity to walk you through the very attractive mortgage options available today, and will work with you every step of the way to make your dreams a reality.

Spring is a good time for some cleaning and organizing. One simple way to organize your banking activity is by using Chemical Bank’s Mobile Banking App. Accessible with a variety of mobile devices, Mobile Banking offers
the ultimate in convenience for your banking transactions. Securely access account balances, make transfers,
pay bills and even deposit a check at your convenience, 24 hours a day. For additional information, visit or stop by any of our branch locations. You will find it’s an easy and streamlined way to keep your banking activity well-organized — you’ll have even more time to devote to that list of outdoor spring projects!
